Small Changes. Big Results.

Did you know that 1 in 3 adults has prediabetes, and most don't even know it?

The National Diabetes Prevention Program at the YMCA is a proven lifestyle change program that can help you reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes through healthy eating, increased physical activity, and ongoing support from trained lifestyle coaches.

If you've been told you have prediabetes, have a family history of diabetes, or are concerned about your health, the YMCA is here to help.

What is the Diabetes Prevention Program?

The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program is a year-long, evidence-based program designed to help adults at high risk for type 2 diabetes make lasting lifestyle changes.

Participants meet in a supportive group setting led by a trained Lifestyle Coach who provides guidance, encouragement, and practical tools to help build healthier habits.

Together, you'll learn how to:

  • Eat healthier without giving up the foods you love

  • Increase physical activity

  • Manage stress and stay motivated

  • Set realistic goals and track progress

  • Create lasting lifestyle changes that fit your life

Why It Works

Research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has shown that people who participate in lifestyle change programs like the YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program can significantly reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

The program focuses on sustainable habits, not diets, quick fixes, or unrealistic expectations.
