Building Brighter Futures

The Brainerd Family YMCA is developing plans for multiple future projects. Additional information will be available as the projects start to take shape.

Brainerd Family YMCA Opens 2 New Child Care Centers!

We are excited to have finished the renovation of a new Child Care Center at 703 Oak Street in Brainerd to provide critically needed, licensed care for up to 66 children. This new center will provide peace of mind to working parents and a safe, nurturing environment for our community’s youngest members. Concurrently, we have partnered with the Brainerd First Lutheran Church to open space within their church to add additional preschool spots.

Research has shown that Pre-K programs have a significant impact on a child’s success in school, as well as their social, emotional, and communication skills. These early learning experiences can set up a child for a lifetime of success. The Brainerd Family YMCA has added 24 infant spots, 42 toddler spots, and 47 preschool spots, addressing the shortage in our community, while keeping our programs affordable and accessible to all. We will also create employment opportunities for teachers, aides and specialists, supporting families and the economy today – and into the future.

The new Child Care Center is the first step in a long-term vision to invest in the children, families and adults in our community. The Brainerd Family YMCA has a rich history of listening to and responding to community needs. As the largest provider of multi-age programming in the area, we feel a strong responsibility to continue our history of service and responsiveness. We have a vision for multiple capital improvements that will help us evolve for the next generations. We are currently engaging in numerous conversations with community and philanthropic leaders to make this vision a reality.
