Dolphin Swim Team
This season is different. We know that. We all know that. As you read through our guidelines (attached to this email), you may consider the logistical obstacles involved with a large team practicing “small” as far as practice group sizes. As time progresses, we may have added obstacles. At the end of the day, we’re committed to making this work. It will be different, but our plan all along has always been to make a difference in the lives of your children; now we’ll just do so, differently.
Some of the obstacles we know as of today:
1. Practice groups are limited to 4 swimmers per lane
2. We do not have a shuttle from Forestview to the High School.
3. During practice, there is no waiting for swimmers on the pool deck or in the Y.
4. If you have a time conflict on a particular day, we cannot accommodate swapping practice groups for the night due to restrictions.
So, knowing we have these obstacles, we have to get your practice grouping “right” the first time. Usually, we have kept our enrollment open throughout the season. That is not an option this year because we can’t add kids to full practice groups with our lane restrictions. Registration will begin Tuesday, September 22nd at 6:00 am. Deadline is Friday, October 2nd. Registration will be ON-LINE ONLY at https://ops3.operations.daxko.com/Online/3062/ProgramsV2/Home.mvc?http://www.brainerdlakesymca.org
Practice groupings are as follows:
Swimmers ages 10 and under
Swimmers ages 11 and Over
Wednesday practice will be a rotating schedule. This schedule will be determined after registration has closed. Due to restrictions your swimmer will only be able to practice during the time you select at registration and their specified Wednesday practice.
Team dues are $250 for the season plus a Brainerd Family YMCA membership (required by the State Swim League), or $150 for high school athletes participating in high school sports. Financial Assistance available for those who qualify.
We are trying to make this season be as “normal” as we can. In many ways, the challenges ahead of us offer an opportunity to grow. The things we felt were important and that warrant preservation, we might have to work harder to replicate this year, and hopefully that challenges us to make every part of what we do the best version it’s ever been.
The meets may look different. But the water is just as wet. The lanes are still 25 yards. And, your child’s biggest competition is and always has been themselves. Personal betterment is the name of this game. So, the goal is to make this season our team’s personal best. We hope you’ll join us.
