American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR Course
Participants will learn to recognize and respond to the signals of heart attack, cardiac arrest and stroke as well as other medical emergencies for adults, children and infants including obstructed airway (choking), allergic reactions and drowning. Participants will earn a 2-year certification card.
This class is taught by Dianna Jenkins who is a certified AHA instructor. The class is held from 6:15-9:15 p.m.

Instruction includes "Universal" procedures for the first aid provider in the community and the workplace including emergency response, physical assessment, and treatment for the suddenly ill or injured victim. Course includes information on body substance isolation, bleeding, shock, burns, sprains, fractures, splinting, asthma, diabetic concerns, seizures, severe allergic reactions, poisoning, insect bites and stings and heat- and cold-related emergencies. Participants will earn a 3-year certification card from ASHI. These classes are taught by Dianna Jenkins who is a certified instructor with the ASHI.
The class is held from 6:15 - 9:15 p.m.

The Bloodborne Pathogens course is an OSHA-approved program. Participants will learn about the possibility of disease transmission through body fluids and the precautions suggested for self-protection. Participants will receive a course handbook and a 1-year certification card from The American Safety & Health Institute. This course will be taught by Dianna Jenkins who is a certified ASHI instructor. The class will be held from 6:15 - 7:15 p.m.

Upon completion of the course, participants will have gained general knowledge of life guarding and will be qualified to lifeguard at most pool facilities. Course includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Training.

Upon successful completion of the course, Water Safety Instructors will be qualified to teach all levels of the Infant and Preschool Aquatics Program, the Learn to Swim Program, and the Community Water Safety Course.
