The Brainerd Family YMCA offers a variety of active older adult fitness programs, social activities and events to assist seniors in continuing to live full and healthy lives.


SILVERSNEAKERS I
Muscular Strength & Range of Movement

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

Class Days: Monday, Wednesday & Friday
Class Time: 10:50 - 11:30 a.m.
Class Fee: Free to YMCA Members

SILVERSNEAKERS II
Cardio Circuit Class

SilverSneakers II - Cardio Circuit is an advanced group exercise class designed for SilverSneakers students who have expressed a desire for more cardiovascular and muscular endurance conditioning and have experience with exercise activities requiring advanced levels of agility, balance and coordination. SilverSneakers II - Cardio Circuit is a non-impact cardiovascular conditioning class presented in a circuit format with alternating resistance tool work and aerobic conditioning choreography.

Class Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays
Class Time: 11:10 - 11:50 a.m.
Class Fee: Free to YMCA Members

YOGASTRETCH
YogaStretch will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.

Class Time: 1:45 - 2:30 p.m.

SILVER CYCLE
SilverCycle class is a nice ge
ntle low impact work out on a stationary bike. The music and choreography is designed with active older adults in mind. Arrive to class early to set your bike. It is important to wear appropriate fitness attire and bring water. To add to your comfort you may bring your padded bike seat cover to use. A polar heart rate monitor is also recommended.

SILVER BEATS
Drums Alive™- Silver Beats stimulates people rather they are young, old, healthy or ill. When we drum and dance we are having FUN! This in return releases endorphins and releases negative feelings The rhythmical patterns of the drum increases synchronization of brain wave activity which in turn provided feelings of euphoria and improved mental awareness and self acceptance.

Class Time: 10:50 - 11:10 a.m.

DEEP WATER AQUACISE
This is a deep water class in which all participants wear a buoyancy belt provided by the YMCA. The water's resistance provides a great non-impact workout for all fitness levels.

Class Days: Monday - Friday
Class Time: 9 - 10 a.m.
Class Fee: Free to YMCA Members

ACTIVE ADULT AQUACISE
This class provides a total body workout using the resistance of the water in the shallow end of the pool. Support of the water allows little strain or jarring of the joints. Benefits include cardiovascular endurance, muscle strengthening and flexibility. No swimming skills necessary.

Class Days: Monday, Wednesday, & Friday
Class Time: 9 - 10 a.m.
Class Fee: Free to YMCA Members

AQUA COMBO
A combination of deep (with flotation devices) and shallow water exercises for a total body workout.

Class Days: Monday, Wednesday & Friday
Class Time: 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Class Fee: Free to YMCA Members


Watch the Active Older Adult bulletin board in the Y lounge for postings of monthly social activities, which are usually held the 2nd Thursday of each month.
